Serbia: New cycle of EU award for investigative journalism launched
Novi Sad School of Journalism published a call for nomination for EU award for investigative journalism. The awards are intended for the best achievement of investigative journalism published in 2016. The investigative stories should be related to abuse of power and fundamental rights, corruption and organized crime, revealing issues that otherwise would not have been brought to the public's attention.
 
It is possible to nominate investigative stories authored by one or a group of journalist, published by any type of media in Serbia: print, radio, TV, online or combination of those. The contest includes a sub-category for the best story by young investigative journalist. Young investigative journalists also qualify for the general award.
 
The award fund in Serbia in 2017 (for achievements in 2016) is 10,000 Euro. Up to three best entries will be awarded.  The individual award prize ranges between 3,000 and 5,000 Euro. The prize for the sub-category ‘the best story by young investigative journalist’ is 3,000 Euro.

The EU award for investigative journalism aims at promoting outstanding achievements of investigative journalists and improving the visibility of quality journalism in the Western Balkans and Turkey. The total award fund for all seven countries is 210,000 euro. The award in Serbia is coordinated by Novi Sad School of Journalism, while the regional partnership is coordinated by Peace Institute, Ljubljana.
